Museum Place South is a mixed-use building that has 128 apartments, 12 for-rent townhouses, a garage and a full-service grocery store.
The 47,000 sf Safeway store has glass storefronts on three sides to increase natural light and curb appeal. The store, Safeway’s first mixed-use space, has a full service pharmacy, butcher, seafood department and bakery. Service counters for these departments are on the main floor while the mezzanine level is reserved for storage and operations. Six refrigeration units service the store and are tied to a cooling tower on the roof, six floors above. The store utilizes an e-vac drain system that removes moisture and condensation from the large refrigeration units to the mezzanine where is it dissipated. The back of the store features the computer room, an employee break area, security systems, meeting rooms and two loading docks.
Above the Safeway are 140 residential units. Of the residential units 128 are in the tower section of the building which tops out at 11 stories. These units range in size from 600 sf studios to 1,300 sf, 2-level apartments. Many apartments have balconies or terraces with city views. An above street level courtyard separates the apartments and townhouses. The 12,000-square-foot courtyard is a lush garden area with grass, paths and seating areas.
Subgrade parking with 220 spaces is split for Safeway shoppers and residents. The residential parking is secured on the bottom floors.
